life is L( lsd)IFE

see? LIFE magazine wasn’t always lame. when they ran this cover (sept. 1966), LSD was just recently made illegal (if i have my timeframe right). acid was big in the bohemian underground but almost unknown in the mainstream. so, when they did this cover, it was one of the biggest advertisements to try out the new cool drug that ever happened. it wasn’t until the san francisco psych bands started to hit the charts about a year later and the “hippie” fad became a tidal wave across america that ‘LSD’ became a household phrase.

AC: i have all sorts of wacked out bonkers crazy mag covers form back then. event he mainest of mainstream mags had amazing images every where to choose from back in those days. it wasn't all about about nostalgia and 'retro' back then. they were willing to take chances.

so, when you see a stack of old LIFE magazines, instead of wincing (like they were norman rockwell or the reader’s digest or some other such tripe) give a second look. you might be surprised what you can find.
