sweet revenge

by Art Chantry ( art@artchantry.com)

this is a revenge flyer. i pulled it off a telephone pole. it’s for a party thrown at an ususpecting victim’s house that the whole city is invited to attend- and EVERYTHING IS FREE! can you imagne the nightmare results?

i remember one fake flyer for a demolition party (where you are invited to help tear down a house while sucking down kegs of beer). a whole house was damn near demolished. the owner found out the next morning when he came home from work.

revenge flyers are often fairly easy to spot and they’re really great sorts of artifacts to collect and learn from. if you can fake a street flyer, then you have REAL power. you can get people to do dang near anything.

AC:it's funny. when i printed those anonymous revenge flyers in that old book i did, i really had NO idea who did them. but, over the years, the perps came out of the woodwork and introduced themselves. pretty funny. people who do these things eventually want credit for their sordid efforts. like it was brilliant or something, instead of cruel.

when i did my old book on punk flyers called “instant litter”, i showed a couple of revenge flyers up in the intro. they were fake punk flyers (one was for a seattle concert by the clash) that were total fiction. the phone number on the poster (to buy tickets) was a local promoter that had burned some band. he had to change his business phone number and never recovered.

other posters are designed to ridicule people, usually as a result of real or imagined wrong they’ve committed somewhere. the second flyer i’m posting here is one of those. i found it on a telephone pole in st. louis (cracktown). it doesn’t get anymore “pure revenge” than this.

so, remember, kiddies. so long as people have the power of the pole, they can get you sooooooo easy! be nice, now….

AC:this is my second vicious example. be nice to your partners, or else!
