Author Ashley Kahn also authored a “biography” of the making of Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue. This design took a less-is-more/historic accuracy approach on my part by mimicking the original Impulse! LP design to a degree, yet accommodating the additional contemporary copy in (as accurately as I could render) period-style. The image is an original outtake from Bob Thiele’s photo session and had been stored in a box in the Coltrane home since the original album’s 1964 production.
