gypsy

by Art Chantry ( art@artchantry.com)

always been fascinated by the whole LA sleaze world (of which manson was only a small element). his connections into the pop/rock/show biz world of the midsixties LA scene are endlessly interesting – and very cleverly hidden by all the PR folks. i had no idea that gypsy had a recording career. she’s not bad, either. also, if it’s on autumn records, that means it’s quite possible that sly stone was her recording engineer. he produced a LOT for that label in the his early days.

---AC:i read that was where he met steve stills. ah, well.

manson was also buddies with cass elliot and neil young and many others. he was a social butterfly in the early days – always on the hustle, always on the make. and that’s the music world. in the movie star world and even the tv world, he was always hustling the rich and famous. he even tried out for the monkees. too bad his audition tape disappeared…and then there’s the weird-o crackpot occult world in LA. his connections into that hidden world is rumored to be extensive. you begin to see how much of all this crap culture is interwoven into all sorts of dark pop corners. have you ever read about the surrealist connections with the black dahlia murder? it’s WAY out there, but who knows?
