Happy Birthday Eli Katz aka Gil Kane!
Kane was the co-creator of the “modern day” versions (as opposed to the Golden Age) of the DC superheroes The Atom and Green Lantern. He also co-created (with writer Roy Thomas) one of Marvel’s martial arts heroes, Iron Fist, in the 1970s. Kane was also a pioneer of the graphic novel with two seminal works, His Name Is… Savage (1968) and Blackmark (1971). In an upcoming post I’ll detail more about the wonderfully spectacular Gil Kane.
