tunnel vision: in like flynn

There are lots of days when the earth stands still. Motionless. Inert. Lifeless. Of course, its not for pleasure, or sport, or enjoyment; it has a revelatory characteristic, inextricably linked to the divine. It is holy and in the service of the one above, an approving man.Helas, are the actions taken borne out of fear or out of love? Maybe women do lie in ponds and distribute swords…

(see link at end)…Egyptian cleric Abd Al-Rahman recently explained on Al-Nas television how a man is permitted to beat his wife.

“A good woman, even if beaten by her husband, puts her hand in his and says: ‘I will not rest until you are pleased with me.’ This is how the Prophet Muhammad taught his women to be,” Al-Rahman said in comment aired in August, according to a translation provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI)….

Coppens:The first chapter of “The Lost Civilization Enigma” is called “The New Inquisition”. It shows ample evidence of how elements of “Academic Science” have become the new inquisition: everyone who offers a diverging opinion about a subject and strays from “the accepted norm” is labeled a heretic and hunted down, by a small group of inquisitors, modernly labeled skeptics.—Read More:http://philipcoppens.blogspot.ca/2012/10/the-new-inquisition.html

“Islam instructs a man to beat his wife as a last resort before divorce, so that she will mend her ways, treat him with kindness and respect, and know that her husband has a higher status than her,” he said.

“I say to every husband: Do not rush to beat her whenever a problem arises. O servant of Allah, Allah said: ‘Admonish those of them on whose part you fear disobedience, refuse to share their beds, and beat them.’ One should not beat out of anger.”

Al-Rahman said that beating one’s wife is a matter of discipline. He said that the Prophet Muhammad beat one of his wives, Aisha, in order to instill discipline, not because he enjoyed it.Read More:http://www.timesofisrael.com/egyptian-cleric-advises-men-beat-your-wife-so-she-will-mend-her-ways/

Coppens:This topic was already in evidence in “The Ancient Alien Question”, especially how Science treats the work of astrobiologists that argue that life did not originate on this planet, but elsewhere in the universe. No matter how much evidence these scientists gather, their colleagues will make sure that the notion of earth-centered life remains the reigning paradigm by carefully using “peer review” to condemn and isolate the heretics.
Of course, material that paints a different picture of history and the mind are the most important topics to be attacked by the inquisition.—Read More:http://philipcoppens.blogspot.ca/2012/10/the-new-inquisition.html

Hard to know where fundamentalism is leading to. There is an attraction/repulsion dynamic to many; spewing out many towards secularism and gnosticism and atheism while drawing in hordes relishing the sacrifice and ritual and the appeal of an easily begotten solution to the identity crisis.  This is a very trying time for sheep and goats. And even the poor camel. Our thoughts are with them.Clearly not a PETA condoned event. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, especially for the animals during Eid al-Adha where millions undergo a throat slashing. Can’t everyone just chill and read a few chapters of Paul Coelho’s shepherd stories? …

23 Oct — Palestinians smuggled sheep to Gaza in a tunnel under Egypt’s border for the Muslim celebration of Eid Al-Adha, where goats, sheep and camels are slaughtered commemorating Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail on God’s command.Read More:http://mondoweiss.net/2012/10/egypt-brokers-ceasefire-in-gaza-as-netanyahu-warns-of-extensive-and-deeper-action.html

( Ginsberg, Howl):I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked,

dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix,

angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night,

who poverty and tatters and hollow-eyed and high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of cold-water flats floating across the tops of cities contemplating jazz,…

—One of the leaders of this group is Rabbi Shalom Aviner, rosh yeshiva of Ateret Cohanim, one of the most extreme of Israeli yeshivot. It is preparing the religious and priestly rite for establishment of the Third Temple, a development which could cause a holy war if the point is pressed too intensely. Aviner is known as an enthusiastic supporter of extremist settler politics, having called Jewish terrorist Baruch Goldstein “a saint.” He declared that anti-Occupation Israelis who refuse army service should be executed. He called settlement evacuation a ‘illegal crime.’ Ironically (when you read what I’m about to tell you), Aviner has also suggested that women would be justified in killing a man who is raping them.—Read More:http://www.eutimes.net/2010/03/settler-rabbi-stonewalls-on-sex-abuse-charge/ image:http://artnote.blog.com/files/2012/04/belajesus.jpg
