pour it on: 50 coats worth

They’re back. Pour-On is in. At one time, the big use of the product was to preserve autumn leaves for eternity by using Pour-On high gloss finish to make them shine like a heavenly angel in a frame. After that, they began using them for puzzles, mosaic in-lid stone coffee tables and finally, the big push when artists started experimenting with Pour-On on artist canvas. The product kit is actually 2 bottles of equal volume: the varnish and he hardener; so an 8 oz kit is really a 4 oz bottle. The coverage of the eight-ounce kit is two square feet which is not enormous, which likely explains the demand for sizes running to 128 ounces.

ETI. An acronym for enironmental technologies; how "green" the product is cannot readily be discerned, but the odor level is fairly low.

Each coat is the equivalent of 50 coats of regular varnish, but what “regular” exactly is is open to speculation. Even if its thirty coats its still pretty impressive. One quibble is that the prices keep going up; when oil was at its peak in 2008 it was reason for a price increase and now as producers struggle to be profitable, the price still creeps upward. Oh well. Still, a great product and nearly unique. The power of monopoly pricing. The 8 oz kit is going to be on sale in our next flyer, check for details…
