Secularism, nationhood as the ideological antithesis to the Holy Life in a Holy land, something created by Jews, as Zionism, in part a defiance and denial of God, a sort of Lucifer, fallen from praising in heaven that has organized the abyss held within the in-between. Stuck, wedged between messianic violence where death is the messiah and the forsaking of God as crime without redemption both meeting the inevitable penalty of an anonymous death, whether symbolic or actual in the powder filled keg with fuse burning, a meaningless wasteland of destruction and anguish.
Such is Obama’s arrival in israel; an upfront and live view of the Jew in his habitat so real it seems surreal; the Jew as the represenatative modern individual of both suffering and understanding still in exile from his divine inheritance. The various existential paths both absolutist and existential become inevitably a religion as post-modernism confronts the the Exodus and receiving the Torah in Sinai. There is something out of the box since humans are deeper and more complicated than merely rational controls can keep hold of. As Obama arrives at the podium there could be a thought that passes vaguely: beliefs, disciplines and prohibitions cultivated against the odds as in a world of poisons one selects as a food that nourishes in counterpoint to a Jewish faith, unlike most larger persuasions which at core affirms a mode of survival against steep odds.
Much is a way out of the modern impasse: to somehow salvage the life of spirit under the burden of material concerns. This in itself is a kind of alchemical union, a marriage that is both a costly affair and precarious condition, but a reaction, the resistance to demoralization and overall confusion through a holy joy where there seemed only emptiness, a void that can be abandoned in a day. American foreign policy vis a vis Israel and the broader geopolitical interests is to understand the forces of devotion as guiding theme and exploit the situations suggested by them. To see the fervor as it blends with pathos, simplicity, horror and the quest for idyllic piety; the sorts of moral and theological piety at play between the Divine, the infernal and the suffering space of self determination all interconnected and blazing with life and actuality.
But this seethingly real picture, op peoples under the millstone of the West and their inner coherence struggling for its own identity or simply fragmenting and splitting off in a proces of mutations of often death and precarious foundations has made for some strange congruencies in this wildreness where treacheries to God seems to spread a faithlessness and heartlessness into all actions and thoughts. That is, this new chaotic world where anti-Israel BDS activists exhibit the same pointless wanderings of the radical settlers, the same moral and intellectual consequences whre both prolong the absence of peace , occupation and blind appetite whre two nations will never find a way to share the land. There is quest for salvation through a sort of ecstasy in rotting and sterile decisions, some occult purification in the intensity to which they surrender and submit to the forbidden and otherworld of disruptive powers, all screwed down under dots, letters, and ritual style posing and gestures dogmatized into a psychic epidemic as metaphor for cultural landslide that is nihilistic in essence.
ADDENDUM:
(see link at end)…No-one is going to buy that. It suits Jerusalem’s purpose to willfully muddle wholesale BDS – boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel – with the specific targeting of the settlements. The 2011 law allowing lawsuits against Israelis calling for boycotts against any institution or area under its control demonstrates this strategy. And labeling does not equal the imposition of a boycott, although Israeli fears that it would be the thin end of the wedge.
The EU is simply fed up. Fed up of investing billions in supporting Palestinian state-building which goes nowher
ed up of being the laughable counterpoint to U.S. support, fed up of Israeli insinuations that criticism of the occupation is some kind of dark, lingering European hostility to the Jewish state itself.Read More:http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/europe-settlement-products-are-tainted-goods.premium-1.506864
