Is Art Religulous?

Borat director Larry CharlesThis past weekend I saw the Larry Charles film ”Religulous” featuring enhanced high definition  from comedian Bill Maher.Often  artists define their work as an expression of  spirituality or as a manifestation of  a proxy for religious experience. After viewing this It does leave you wondering whether the foundations for these beliefs are that solid to say the least. Or, can the creative experience be disassociated from the baggage of  religion as an element of what we bring to bear on our work and can creativity itself be a form of identity.Certainly, the film is of the crash and burn variety and somehow both of them are on a nihilistic adventure in search of some form of  spiritual meaning themselves.
