Pebeo and the Chagall Windows

pebeo-logoPebeo is a French   producer of  ”Vitrail” and ”Vitrea 160” glass paint. An explosion into the American psyche has never occured even if they decided to slip peyote essence into the solvent base of the product. The packaging is quaint but odd by the standard craft formulas we are accustomed to. But, then the product is marketed as a ”creative pastime” offering, something Jean Cocteau would use when daycaring for his friends illegimitate children. The product is  neither craft or art but the results are absolutely superb.

A reproduction of  Marc Chagall’s windows would be feasible at a fraction of the cost of real stained glass and the use of the pebeo mediums and special effects would make the result a little more trippy. Its remarkable how much we have sold almost exclusivly in the Quebec province. The applications on canvasses are really startling in that the stained glass look is reproduced on a traditional surface with a depth of transparency and elements of dimensionality all at a low cost for the artist.chagall-windows
